Purple Rainbow Scrappy Saturday

The last purple Saturday, I have six more Jacob's Ladder blocks--

Six Jacob's Ladder blocks
 There is also a finish--

Twirling Spools
Twirling Spools--the spool blocks were made as my Rainbow Scrappy Challenge project in 2012.  The border fabric is an oriental fabric I love, but doesn't work well cut up.  The backing is pieced, and I hate to piece backings!  Its quilted with apples, leaves, and flowers.   93 x 93" for 17 yards of stash busted.  Please see everyone's Purple Projects at SoScrappy.

  2. Great finish! Pieced backings take so much time, but the are so much fun for using up every old bit of whatever is there. Love the purples!

  11. The twirling spools are lovely and there is a circle effect somehow that catches your eye. A wonderful finish! I know your Jacob's ladder will be great also someday soon.

  12. Scrappy quilts are the best!! I have to ask though, since you are such a prolific quilter, what do you do with all those quilts you make? Mine are piling up and I have a hard time parting with those that I haven't made especially for gifts or donations.

  13. Ooh, I like it! I have found myself more and more determined to buy wide backings, as it is so irritating to feel "almost done," but then spend a day or two of sewing time on the backing!
