I've been pondering what kind of goals I can have this week. I did get the baby quilt top together last night. Discovered what I forgot to pack in that car of mine--a SEAM RIPPER! Tomorrow I will have to go buy one. I have been quietly sewing and reading today, Laura Beth and Nick are enjoying Melissa being here. Lots of laughing, movies and for those of you who know--the video game "Guitar Hero". Except that's it's LOUD it's a hoot to watch--Melissa is a vocal/band/piano teacher so she loves it!
1) Take pictures of the Blooming Rose top tomorrow on the grass if it's not too windy.
2) Start ironing and cutting fabric for my new quilt "Scrap Happy"
Drat--too windy today to take picures--I tried!!

Sunday Stash Report
I didn't buy any fabric, but I did finish something--DD's baby quilt. I'd say that used about 10 yards total.
I am trying to participate in the stashbuster weekend retreat, I did get the blocks for one UFO together, but the fabric for the borders are at home. Next I will work on a baby quilt I have half made, and when I have THAT put together, I can start my new red quilt! So I do have a goal! Later I will take pictures of LB and her quilt, and my UFO top.

Sunny Saturday
Today was a baby shower for Laura Beth. Good time, Laura Beth saw some different faces for a change. Now I think I will go sew or read, Stashbusters are having a virtual retreat, and I would like to finish putting my blocks together. I have three rows left to sew on.
Only a few weeks left before the baby is born.

Quiet Thursday
Not much happening here, LB had a Dr. appt this morning, things are going well. I put together a pan of lasagna, made some garlic bread, have a salad ready. Now we will wait for Nick to call when he's going to get home, he's working out of town today.
In between I have been putting some UFO blocks together using my new design wall. Yes, it's the concrete basement floor! Maybe now it's time for a quick nap. And I haven't been to any fabric stores yet!
These blocks are from an internet swap from a few years ago, I have never done raggy edge applique, and I loved doing them, and receiving them! There are leaves to be raggy edge appliqued when I get the top together, but I forgot them at home in the drawer. But if I get it put together that far, I will be satisfied!

Wednesday Ramblings
I'm drinking coffee comtemplating my day. For those of you who don't know, I am OCD--I NEED to plan my day. Asked LB if she needed to be somewhere today--I got a shrug. LOL--like where would I take her??!! But do need to make a trip to the grocery store, she requested homemade beef stroganoff for supper. I was in a rush when I packed, and didn't bring my recipe box, so we are eating things I can remember or recipes I can get off the internet. And a chocolate sheet cake would go over well I think.
And, yesterday I found this in the Sunday Ads. It's an Acer Aspire One, had everything I wanted on it, and it was CHEAP. And see how small it is? It is less than 10"x7", and weighs under 2 pounds. It has Windows XP like my big computer at home, so I won't have to switch back and forth. And it is wireless with lots of other options I haven't explored yet. But--I downloaded some pictures on it, so that works.
Well, I am going to shower, shop, cook, and sew. Hopefully in that order! And I haven't been to any fabric stores.

Later on Monday
Today was Laura Beth's Dr. appt and she is much better, strict bedrest seems to be doing it. They are hoping she makes it to 39 weeks, (she is a little over 35 now) and if she doesn't hatch by then they will induce her. Looks like I will be here a while, so worked on making a sewing area. I set my sewing table up in front of the window in the basement, and then I realized there was no plug in close! Picked up an extension cord while I was out shopping. So have a small area in the basement with a table, featherweight, cutting board, and iron/ironing board.
Nick fixed it so I could unload pictures from my camera and FIND them again on their computer. I promised pictures of my little car packed to come stay, LOL, Ken kept saying it was full, do you think I should tell him I put more in there after he left and then I stopped at Walmart and bought groceries?? My car maybe not be pretty or fancy, but she is dependable and cheap!!
Oh, and Laura Beth said there is a baby shower on Saturday, so I will have to get that binding on the quilt and wrap it up! I have been sorting thru her baby clothes for her, can see a few things they need yet. Maybe I will get a little time to shop before Saturday.
Oh, I found this on Stephanie's Blog--how fitting for now!

Monday Goals
I am at Laura Beth's and Nick's. Thinking about some goals. Saturday I got home and my panto and thread order had arrived, so I quick quilted LB's and Nick's baby quilt. So for goals---
1. Making and bind the baby quilt
2. Ask Nick how to download pictures from my camera onto their computer (I took pictures of how full my little car was
3. Put the next Slide Show baby top together
4. Work on red quilt called "Scrap Happy" from October 2008 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting
I should have brought along some Heartstrings blocks that are just sitting there waiting for me to set them together. Rats!!
Laura Beth is on strict bedrest, so I am here to keep her company, do laundry, plan and make meals etc. You know--motherly things!! So for lunch I grilled hotdogs, sliced cucumbers and tomatoes, got out carrots and grapes, and made a pan of brownies. LB is laying on the couch, remote in hand (sounds like her father) phone, milk, and brownie nearby. Later today she has a Dr. appt, I am hoping she will continue to be at home.

Motivation Friday on Saturday
Being a day late on a motivation post looks bad! I was away from my computer but was thinking about posting! I did get the baby quilt (Slide Show) into a top. Tomorrow I leave for Laura Beth's. Not sure how long I will be there, but intend to take my featherweight, sewing tools and at least a project or three! I have one more baby slide show I can put together, my raggy flower blocks are ready to put into a top, and I have a new magazine that I found a pattern I want to try. My long lost thread order came (it was so lost, I had to completely redo the order since the first time I ordered it was in May!)

Tuesday--Almost Over!
Oh, is my body in slow motion!! Ken and I did 30 bags of corn (each bag holds 3 cups). I did 10 more cups of summer squash. Picked ANOTHER half basket of tomatoes. I got the two baby tops ready to quilt, the backing is ready. I had a very good trade with my next door neighbor. Ken took over some more tomatoes, and she brought over two fresh pieces of rhubarb pie!! She is a wonderful cook! I didn't get any baking done, but I can do that in the camper later in the week. I may want to spend any extra time sleeping.
If I haven't been leaving comments on your blogs, I AM reading them and laughing. Still thinking of trading off my husband for Gina's! Wonder how much I'd have to pay on a trade in??!!

Tuesday--Barely!
It's 1 am. Earth mother is about to retire for the evening. Laundry is almost done. Canned 11 qts of tomatoes. 16 cups of zucchini. Did sinks full of dishes. Tomorrow morning is sweet corn. I would like to make zucchini brownies and maybe a zucchini cake that Ken especially likes.
I even got the baby top together.
Sorry about the afternoon shadows. I used an Atkinson Designs pattern called "Slide Show". The colored squares are fossil ferns I had been saving, (no more saving fabric!) and Kona snow. No borders as it is fairly large without them. Laura Beth picked out a fleece for the backing--it is polka dots! Hmm, squares on one side, polka dots on the other. I think I see a pattern here. And while on Pat's blog, I came across this--
Hey Pat, see that score??!!

Monday Goals
Goals, goals, GOALS!!! I don't have time to think up goals. (Okay, you should always have time to write up some goals.)
1. Finish baby quilt top for Ken's co-worker
2. Plan to attend next Heartstrings sew in in Minnesota!
Yes, I want to attend the sew in, it sounds like so much fun and it would really be neat to meet these people "in person". I have NEVER met a quilter in person whom I'd met online who wasn't a great person!
All my other goals aren't quilty AGAIN. I have tomatoes to can, and will put up a little sweet corn because my DH is hovering over me and talking about it. (He's the corn lover in the family.) I ordered my long arm thread, and had computer problems, lost the order and had to start over. Sigh Laundry is in mounds. Grass needs mowing. Flowers are being taken over by weeds. I need to be back in Yankton Tuesday night. But, soon it will be fall and then winter, so I will enjoy what I can for now!
Laura Beth is due September 20th, we're anxiously waiting for this grandbaby. The baby quilt top is finished, and I am waiting for thread and time to get it quilted.
And because I am so far behind, (and messy) my fabric stash is taking over.
My cutting table. (Yes, it's under there!)
My sewing table.
My stacking cubes.
Before you start to worry, customers quilts are neatly hung or in boxes in the closet!

Sunday Stash Report
Nothing on the sewing front this week, no stash in, no stash out!! The closest I got was to read my new quilting books.
This weekend was "Riverboat Days". The weather was perfect! Yesterday we went down to Riverside Park and watched "Brule", they are a Native American/New Age/ACDC type music. Please check out their link--I am a big fan and of course bought some more CD's and Paul LaRoche autographed them for me. I have read his book, it's very good. And there were the usual vendors, crafts and food. Air show above the river, sky divers, Bagpipes and Drum Corps, Dancers of all sorts, fireworks. I bought a few Christmas presents, a beaded bracelet,
a wind spinner for my deck, and a primitive style picture.
I have a few days before I have to head back, there are tomatoes to can. The garden is really starting to produce. I will skip putting up sweet corn this year, we still have plenty from last year.
Soon summer will be winding down, I wish it was May again.

Home again--for now!
We got home about 6pm, made several stops along the way--quilt shops for me and equipment dealers for Ken! Ken didn't get any new equipment! I bought a few gifts, a pattern, and did find some red fabric for the quilt pattern I saw in the magazine and used my 60% off coupon. We miss Laura Beth all ready, but will get to go back again soon! As Laura Beth says "this baby's gotta get out sometime!"
Laura Beth and Nick
Ruby sleeping UNDER Laura Beth's recliner. We weren't too worried about Ruby traveling, she loves to ride along in ANYTHING. But, being a border collie she still tries to "round us all up". One morning Laura Beth was the last person up, and Ruby laid in front of her bedroom door, but so she could still keep an eye down the hallway on the rest of us!! When we were split into groups in different parts of the house, she paced back and forth and watched.
Earlier this year I bought these shoes, and I LOVE red shoes!

Playing Catchup
Its been busy! Thanksgiving has come and gone, soon it will be Christmas. We got our vaccinations a couple weeks ago--Covid, RSV, Influena...
