Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

Hurray--the last of the Mr. March went together over the weekend!

Mr. March--94x112"
Too big to get it all in the picture.  I stood on my stepstool and took lots of pictures--if I've made an error somewhere a photo makes it easier to see.  So far--so good!  Usually I don't make a pieced border--but the pattern had a picket fence border and I liked it. The pattern is  Four-Patch Plaid in the book Nickel Quilts by Pat Speth/Charlene Spode.  See what everyone is working on at Patchwork Times.

Henrietta's Brown Batik 4 Patches are on the Princess--

Saturday I had a sewing marathon--finished Mr. March, stitched around and trimmed Swoon, and made 3 sets of binding.  I was able to finish all my goals last week--maybe I didn't make enough???

This week I want to--
  1. Quilt Brown 4 Patch
  2. Sew one binding on
  3. Add one more bunch of appliqued grapes to my block
  4. Sew more Birds in Air rows together
I saw this pattern free on-line and maybe it will be my "fun time" this week--

Heritage pattern at Red Rooster Fabrics
Its not that big--44"--but I can see adding squares in the corner and maybe some fun diamond borders.  I tried to talk Henrietta into making one with me but she says I'm the one who likes diamonds and angles and to go ahead without her!

And yesterday it RAINED.

This is looking over into my neighbor's backyard--the ground is froze so the water doesn't sink in.  Later on it got much colder--the puddle is now a frozen lake and we've had about 2 inches of snow--all is white again.

Its time for winter to be over!  I miss green grass and the smell of fresh dirt.  A few flower seeds and some pole bean seed fell into my shopping cart the other day.  I've been saving plastic pop bottles and plastic qt milk jugs all winter--found instructions to make "ghetto greenhouses" and they seem like my kind of project.

Are you ready for spring?  Have you bought any seeds to plant?  Is your garden planned??

Mr. March looks great! I am so ready for Spring and it appears that I will see it sooner than you. It's going to take a while for that ground to thaw. Maybe you can try ice skating. :-)

WOW, your first quilt is amazing, Mr. March. Love the scrappiness. And the border is a great finish!!

Mr. March is great....BIG, and scrappy. Love that. He'd barely fit on my machine.

Now there's snow & ice (not here) but soon enough we'll all be complaining about the heat & humidity. DH has some tomato seeds he's getting anxious to plant. As of last Thursday he's retired. Constantly piddling around at something. Beginning to get on my nerves already. If he just didn't have to explain every single little thing he's doing or planning to do!!

What a lovely quilt, I know that it will be such fun to quilt. Loading on the machine will be a 4 handed project!! No green here, still under snow but it has rained. We are hoping to get the yard cleaned up in time for our son's grad party in June!!

btw, love the star.

Mr. March is welcome to take up lodgings at my house. He is very handsome!

Sure wish it would rain or snow here. The mountains need more snow for summer irrigation, and if it doesn't snow or rain here in the valley, it will be yet another year of drought for the farmers and ranchers.

I am also ready for winter to end and spring to arrive. Especially after driving to Pierre yesterday afternoon for work. Horrible roads heading west.

You had a really productive week. Can't wait to see what you do with that diamond design. I like it too.

I AM ready for spring! Poured rain here this afternoon. My poor flowers are so confused, not looking nearly as pretty as last year because of the up and down temperatures. Love that quilt from Nickle Quilts. I'll have to take a look because I don't remember it. I like the picket border, though!

Love that four patch plaid! My daffodils are up, but we still have snow on the ground!

Geez, Lori! How about that you cut yourself a little slack, girl? I quote, "I was able to finish all my goals last week--maybe I didn't make enough???" I say to you, maybe it just means you are highly SUCCESSFUL!! Your Mr. March is amazing. You rock!

i got out one of my UFO's last week and divided up the blocks to make some bed runners for Vets. that will get them out of here, give me some more space, and be useful at the same time!
