We Made It

We are set down in Elephant Butte New Mexico.  We were always one day ahead of winter.   The route was across South Dakota west, down the east side of the Black Hills to Nebraska, west to Cheyenne Wyoming, then straight down I25 to Elephant Butte.  A little over 1400 miles.  A few of life's bumps along the way.  Somewhere between Pueblo Colorado and Santa Fe New Mexico we suffered a hit & run on the camper.  Cosmetic damage only.  When we need to run errands, eat, etc we park the pickup and camper in a truck stop, big parking lot, a Walmart and take the other truck with the cargo trailer.  Its smaller and easier to get around in.  So sometime someone scraped the passenger side.  Then in Santa Fe we blew the inverter on the camper.  That controls the electricity into the camper.  A PITA, but the fridge can run on propane, we had water, and the hot water heater runs on propane.  So we could shower.  BUT, no lights and could not run the furnace.  Luckily we had packed a camping heater that ran on canned fuel and a butane stove--so I could make coffee.  We even had a box of votive candles.  And we had packed lots of quilts and we burrowed under them.  On Monday we drove to Anthony TX for new inverter.  We are still unpacking and searching for items.  Today I am going to cut the black & white squares to make HSTs for Simpley Serene--
I saw something I wanted to buy but I practised restraint--

I love those palm tree lights!  We also saw the cutest vintage camper van--

Glad you made it safely south! Will be you staying until spring? Do you still have your home in Parkston, or are you full-time RVers now?
