OMG

For March I wanted to quilt the Jacob's Ladder quilt.  Last night it came off the Princess--
it was a RSC project, the HST in each block featured that month's color.  I wanted a rectangular quilt so made picket fence borders at the top and bottom.  I had some wide cream flannel and I dyed it--
The color is called Rose Brown, I called it "tired grape".  The border is a dark purple in the same shade so it was a great choice.  The quilt pattern is called Teeter Totter, I used a light lavender thread on top and a darker purple on the bottom.

I'm linking up with Elm Street Quilts.  Tomorrow I will pick OMG for April.

Design Wall Monday

Its going to be a busy week.  Mason and Asher will be doing "distance learning" with IPads, Zoom meetings, etc.  So no goals this week, I just hope to keep my head above water!

Everyone is making masks, I made two--

I used the Joanne.com tutorial.  I used a 2" strip WOF for the ties, and I had the bias tape maker.  So far I've made two masks.  I'm linking with Love Laugh Quilt, Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, and Quilting is More Fun than Housework.

There is a small mountain of quilts to bind--

12 quilts to bind.  I will continue to quilt as much as life allows.

RSC Saturday and Life Update

Recently I was sorting through the normal chaos of my She Shed and found a sandwich bag of "parts".  Hmmm, after pulling them out I realized they were green Churn Dash blocks, so I happily sewed them up!

I'm linking to So Scrappy.

Recent school closings for Covid19 have included the grandsons.  So the two oldest have been staying with us during the week.  This required some grocery shopping--

A full cart!  Lots of purchases not edible--3 balls, a puzzle, a couple games.  Boys have healthy appetites, we now go through a loaf of bread a day.  Both of their great grandfathers would chuckle to hear that, with Ken's dad saying "at least they're healthy!"  The boys are pretty good, they like to read--

We have a large backyard they can play in.  What boy can resist a STICK!

Mason's shoe was a casualty--

We used duck tape to hold it together for now.  Remember those balls we bought?  If you look carefully you can see one--

WAAAY up there is an orange ball!  Charlie Brown had a kite eating tree, is this a ball eating tree?  Not really, boys were kicking the ball and being young boys had thought it would be fun to kick the ball high in the tree.  But, they hadn't considered that the ball would get stuck!  And using a 2nd ball to attempt to dislodge the 1st now has TWO balls stuck in the tree.

Its a big tree, the balls are probably 30 feet up.  They will stay there until the wind shakes them loose.  I'm betting it won't be in 2020, they are stuck against the trunk of the tree.

A fellow Stashbusters shared this--

I like it!  I can do this!  I have plenty of fabric!

How are you coping with social distancing?

Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

Time for weekly goals--

QUILT
Beads
Chop Scraps
YoYos

I finished 22 more Beads blocks.  As I was counting them I realized I used the wrong background!  ROFL!!  Not a disaster, I can make more blocks.  The two backgrounds are different, they wouldn't blend if I used them together in one quilt.

Next I decided to work on WITB scraps--

I pressed this many to chop.  The box is still 3/4 full.

There's been a lot of VAA meetings.  Totally unproductive!  I pulled out my YoYo project--

This is still a fun project, I enjoy working on it.  I'm a visual person, I always need a picture/pattern/diagram.

This is my plan for my YoYo blocks.  My yoyos are scrappy but each block has the last round all one fabric to create the visual of a "block".  I'm linking with Love Laugh Quilt, Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, and Quilting is More Fun than Housework.

Covid19 affects everyone.  Slowing the infection rate so our health care system is not overwhelmed is an absolute must.  So we're staying home as much as possible.  We have three packages of toilet paper and plenty of coffee.  We'll be fine.

RSC Saturday--TEAL

I love teal!  These fabrics came from my scraps--

I make my HST a little big and then trim--

2Rs and I went to Nebraska to attend a quilt meeting with Dee.  This pattern is Around & Around, a free pattern from Joanns Designs.  I wanted something a little different than white or natural for background, I had a light yellow solid.  Its being added to my RSC repertoire.  I've seen it made totally scrappy by Nann.

Overnight it snowed.

Heavy, wet, sloppy.  Ugh!  With the Covid19 virus going around I will stay home and sew!  I'm linking to SoScrappy.

OMG March

I remembered to pick a OMG for March.  This quilt top has been hanging waiting, I want it quilted by the end of March.

I made the blocks as part of the RSC, each month I used that month's color in the blocks.  Its a 6x6 setting, and I wanted it longer so I added a scrappy picket fence border to each end.  Sorry you can't see the entire quilt, its too windy for an outside picture.  I'm linking with Elm Street Quilts.

Motivation Monday

Time to pick some goals--

Quilt a top
Make a binding
Beads
Beaded Lanterns

This week I worked on Civil War repro Beads, I finished 16 blocks--

The GO cutter needs a more permanent home.  I cleaned part of my 9ft cutting table, mostly tiny scraps to go in the trash, but the rest went into a priority mail box with the flaps taped UP.  Its was overflowing so I pressed the scraps and cut them into my favorite sizes--

The box still has plenty of scraps left in it--

This will be a March goal, to empty this box.  I'm linking to Love Laugh Quilt, Small Quilts and Doll Quilts, and Oh Scrap.

Playing Catchup

Its been busy!  Thanksgiving has come and gone, soon it will be Christmas.  We got our vaccinations a couple weeks ago--Covid, RSV, Influena...
