RSC Week 14--Aqua and more GREEN

More aqua/teal/green this week--

16 Puss in Corner blocks--done with only natural light for the photo.  Why?  We had a blizzard this week--first rain, then sleet & ice, then heavy snow.  Part of a maple tree fell on our power line to the house.

These are pics from early Thursday morning, it snowed/blew all day Thursday and into Friday morning.  Knee deep to waist deep heavy wet snow.  The entire interstate system and all the roads in South Dakota were no travel/closed.  The branch fell Thursday afternoon.  No pics of it, the live line was draped across our back doorstep, and we didn't go near it.  The electric people came within half an hour, turned the power off, cut the branch up to free the line and restring it.  Unfortunately it pulled the wires loose from the meter/box on the house and fried a lot of it.  By Friday morning we had power in half the duplex (the sewing side) and the furnace repairman was here to repair fried parts on it.  So, we have heat and lights on one side.  But our living side is without power/heat until at least Monday.  Ken had to work Thursday night, so I stayed in the local motel.  4 wheel drive only to get there.  But the freezers and fridges have power now.  We have hot showers and can cook on the sewing side.  Only an inconvenience.

How are my goals?

Finish binding a quilt--YES
Borders on Chains and Stars--YES
RSC blocks--YES

No pictures of the finished quilt, it will have to wait until next week when things are back to normal!  A backing is being dyed for the Chairs and Stars quilt.

I'm linking with SoScrappy!  Have a great week!

Yikes! You had a bad time with this storm. Our lights flickered a few times each day but never went out completely. I saw a friend today who just got her power back this morning and their road plowed out this morning too. She immediately escaped to come to town because she said she had a major case of cabin fever.

You definitely had more snow than we did, though it's hard to tell since the wind blew so hard. Most of it was horizontal coming down. Some tree limbs down around town. A fairly large one is broken partly off on the mulberry tree just south of our house on the neighbor's property. We were fortunate that our power stayed on. The area south of town and Clearwater & Ewing were out for a while. Sure did a number on the country roads that were just getting in better shape from the March disaster.

Your AQUA photo turned out beautifully... especially considering the power was out!! That looks like a pretty big snow. Hoping things will be back to normal tomorrow!

What a story! Hope it is back to normal; we had damaging rain and winds last night but were spared any trouble. Can you talk about your dying backs in blog sometime? You may have already done this, but I am thinking this is how to get a larger back in a color you want..

April snowstorms can be brutal. (I remember the day I closed on the house I bought in Fargo. End of April, intense snowburst, a scary drive from the realtor's office out on I-29 back downtown.) . . . We had 4" yesterday. Cloudless sky today.

Playing Catchup

Its been busy!  Thanksgiving has come and gone, soon it will be Christmas.  We got our vaccinations a couple weeks ago--Covid, RSV, Influena...
