Rainbow Scrappy Saturday--PINK

This week I started a new project and used PINK--

Pink Three Steps Forward block -- 18"
Its called Three Steps Forward by Vickie Eapen.  The newest challenge on Stashbusters is the August 1st Bust your FQs challenge.  Very few FQs at my house, I cut most of them up last summer and there are only a few unloved ones left.  Instead, I am using my "traveling stash" of chunks to sew along.

Tote of Traveling Stash
Odd sized pieces, small amounts of yardage--what I call "chunks".  Ken brought a partial bolt of cream/tan fabric for background.  The pattern is a large Jacob's Ladder block--and I love vintage patterns.  72x90" is a perfect size--this year I'm making quilts for a boys home--so need long twin quilts.  Please see everyone's pink projects at SoScrappy.

This week I finished making Apple Crisp blocks.  Needed at least 99 to set them 9x11.  Next week I need to sew more of them together.  I have 30 "twosies" made.  Next is "threesies".

Have a great weekend--we're having perfect weather here.

Rainbow Scrappy Challenge--PINK

This week I made four Arrowhead blocks--

Ken brought some of my pink stash to the camper, a special request was that he find the fabric with cupcakes on it.

Ken was very brave, here are current pictures of my sewing room--

My cutting table--

Most my pink stash was neatly folded.  Unfortunately the cupcake fabric was not!  But my wonderful dear husband found it!  True love!!  Please see everyone's pink projects at SoScrappy.

This week the mailman brought me new FitBit wristbands.  This one reminds me of quilting--

Heat index today is 111F.  HOT and HUMID!  The air is like breathing in jello.

Its too hot, my brain has quit.  Nothing to write about!

Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

I sewed with the Iowa Sweat Shop Ladies this weekend.  One of the projects I worked on was Simply Woven--

I finished two blocks to make sure I understood the directions.  Simply Woven is a free pattern at Moda Bake Shop.  I have four of the six strips sewn on, I'm making 48 blocks.  Please see everyone's design wall posts at Patchwork Times.

I wanted to work on Apple Crisp, but I forgot the parts for 30 blocks--

They were all neatly bagged and setting on my sewing table in the camper.  Bummer!!  There was still plenty to sew on--I finished 66 Apple Crisp blocks, and sewed 120 Bricks & Stepping Stones "matchsticks" in pairs.  Pink Arrowhead blocks were made for the Rainbow Scrappy Challenge for July.

I also have a finish--

35 Uneven 4 patches made with 30's Reproduction fabrics from the pile I found while cleaning my sewing room.  I still have no idea what the original plan was!  Its big, definitely a large queen so I'll estimate 16 yards used.

Sewing with the Iowa Sweat Shop Ladies is always fun.  Lorri's mom LaVonne is the "Overseer" making sure we're working and not wasting time.

Here she is discussing Donna's project while Lorri is sewing down binding.  Lorri2Rs had a finish--

An alphabet panel she bordered with alphabet fabric!  Its backed with red minkee, very soft and cuddly.

Weekly Goals--

Apple Crisp blocks

I have 30+ blocks to make, I think that will be my only goal this week.

Summer is going fast.  Its hot and muggy this week.  I haven't done much sewing this summer, have you??

Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

This week I worked on Apple Crisp blocks--

25 blocks are done--I need 99 for a queen size quilt.  Please see everyone's posts at Patchwork Times.

Weekly Goals-

More Apple Crisp Blocks

This weekend is Iowa Sweat Shop Sewing.  I'm not sure what I will work on.   LOTS of projects ready to sew at the camper.  I'll concentrate on Apple Crisp since its a challenge and Teresa and 2Rs have their tops completed. Pffft!  Over achievers!! (I have until Labor Day).

This week the Jr. Ranger program was wind chimes.
Lucas was mobbed for three hours!  Jackie helped him.

Here is the sample Lucas made.

The weather is hot and sultry, hope there won't be any storms!

Rainbow Scrappy Challenge

Time for Rainbow Scrappy Challenge blocks--I'm still doing green--

These are some of my Apple Crisp blocks--green centers or a green round.  I could do green for a year and never be tired of it!  Please see everyone's RSC projects at SoScrappy.

No posts for a while.  I've had a nasty toothache but its better, I had it pulled on Wednesday.  Now just sore and antibiotics.

A few random pictures--

Lots of kids come to the Visitor Center.  Water safety tattoos are fun, this young man posed with his.

Mason is growing like a weed, he'll be a 2nd grader this year.

Asher is four and can hardly wait to start preschool.

Maxwell is one and has an easy going nature.

All the boys helped fill the bird feeders.  Mason got them down, Asher was busy scooping birdseed, and Maxwell thought the bird seed was to eat!

Although I didn't feel like sewing, I did plan some new starts for this fall.  Tuesday Ken and I road tripped, I stopped at JoAnns for thread and found their Country Solids on sale, the light yellow I've been wanting for background.  I bought all they had, 8 yards.  Sometimes I want a light background that isn't white or cream.  This is perfect.

I have an Android Tablet.  There is a free app called "Notebooks Pro".  Its a great way to have lists handy.  There is the shopping list, the "Ken" list (things I need to ask Ken to bring to the camper) and my "Quilt List"--new starts I've planned.  You can have oodles of notebooks with lists!

The weather has been beautiful, over the 4th it was perfect, usually didn't need the air conditioner on.   Its warmer now but still only low 80's.

For fun I took pictures at night outside my camper.

My flag is out 24hrs a day,  I have 3 solar spotlights for it.

Playing Catchup

Its been busy!  Thanksgiving has come and gone, soon it will be Christmas.  We got our vaccinations a couple weeks ago--Covid, RSV, Influena...
