Design Wall Monday

Things are hopping at the Workhouse on the Prairie!  Lorri2Rs is here and the machines are smoking!  She sewed this panel into a quilt for me--

2Rs hung it on the rod behind the Princess so "all those eyeballs" can keep an eye (or two) on me.  We're having lots of fun, doing lots of sewing, and having fun!  Please see everyone's design wall posts at Patchwork Times.

I'll try to take more pictures and blog more later this week.  There simply isn't enough time for everything!

No goals--but rest assured we're sewing like demons!  Hope you're having as much fun as we are!

Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

Fall in the City is still on the design wall---

All the rows have the vertical sashings and I'm sewing them together.  Please see everyone's design wall posts at Patchwork Times.

Over the weekend I made RSC blocks--

Red and Teal Spool blocks.

Ritzy Cracker blocks.

Next I started sorting and folding stash I had pulled out to audition---

Its sorted into backing size, border possibilities, and FQs.  Some projects are stored in totes with their fabrics.  Scraps are in a basket and chunks are waiting to be chopped!

Stash Report--

Stash in--3 yards
Stash in YTD--35 yards
Stash out--4.75 yards
Stash out YTD--16.75 yards

Stash is ahead 18.75 yards!
Stash out--12 yards

I bought a layer cake, but finished a quilt using 4.75 yards for the backing.  Mary in SD provided the rest.  Thank you Mary!

Weekly Goals--

Fall in the City
Sew more binding

Very small goals this week.  A plumber is coming this week and I need to move things from a storage closet so he can access the pipes.  Dr appt and then Lorri2Rs will be here for a week.  So not sure what kind of goals I can make!

Its cold and blustery here.  Snowed a little.  UGH!  PLEASE SEND SPRING!

Design Wall Monday and Weekly Goals

This week I finished a quilt--

Mary in South Dakota gave me the completed top and binding for my "boy quilt" project.  I quilted it and did the binding.  The backing was a medium blue I had--

Hard to see but I quilted with vines and leaves--a panto called Jungle Fever.  It finished about 70x90".  4.75 yds came from my stash--the rest was donated by Mary.  Thank you Mary!!  Please see everyone's design wall posts at Patchwork Times.

Last week was Karla's birthday--I took treats and we had a good visit--

Happy Birthday Karla!!  Gavins Point Dam/Lewis & Clark Lake/Missouri River are a popular spot for Bald Eagles in the winter.  I snapped these pictures through the windows with my phone--

Not great pictures but you can tell they are Bald Eagles.  The rangers have counted more than 60 some mornings.   I also visited Ozzie--

He lives at the Visitor Center.  He's a lot of fun--sometimes he comes out to have lunch with the visitors.  He happily eats crickets while they watch.  Next stop was my mailbox--

Aren't they a lonely looking group?  I promised my mailbox a makeover this spring.

Weekly Goals--

Quilt a top
Fall in the City
Make a binding and sew it on
Do some fun sewing

A repeat of last week's goals.  I did everything but Fall in the City.  Four bindings were made and sewn to quilted tops.

Its getting colder again, the forecast is rain.  March is here so Spring has got to get here soon!

Rainbow Scrappy Saturday

March's color is red, but I'm still loving teal--

I'm not done with teal yet--more blocks will be made!  Please see everyone's posts at SoScrappy.

This week I bought a new thimble, I cannot hand sew without a thimble.  My finger is very thin and its hard to keep a thimble on.  But I ordered this one and so far its working pretty good--

The green part is soft rubber and the white section is very hard plastic.  I have to turn it on my finger a bit, I "push" the needle at about 3 o'clock and sometimes slide off into the green section--which is very soft!  It doesn't fall off my finger.

This week I've done some quilting and made four bindings and machine sewed them to the quilted tops.  They are now stacked on the hand sewing pile.

More sewing and quilting planned for the weekend.  Every day is one more day closer to spring!

Its been busy!  Thanksgiving has come and gone, soon it will be Christmas.  We got our vaccinations a couple weeks ago--Covid, RSV, Influena...
