Sunday Stash Report

Easy stash report this week. Nothing in, nothing out! Still -5.5 yards for the year! But tonight (this morning??!) I finished the quilting on the blue bricks and stepping stones quilt. Just the binding left.

And the crown?? I am "Queen" of the Stash on Stashbusters. I must finish a UFO THIS WEEK or pay a penalty. I think today I'll wear this one! A little bling never hurt a girl!

Motivation Friday

Time to check on my goals. I'm still working on my one goal! Yes, I AM quilting the top I put on the machine the other day. I hope I can get the quilting done over the weekend. I've *wasted* a bit of time playing with those geese, I set them into a medallion for the center of a quilt.

Anyone care to step off my deck??

Let's see, the deck is 4 foot high, and there is probably another 2 foot of snow higher than the floor

I have ribs in the crock pot, Mandarin Orange Cake is made. Dough is raising in the bread machine for dinner rolls. I think rice and some vegetable along with it. Ken will take supper over to Dad later on.

Thursday--Bitter Cold

I THINK the storm has passed. Now it's just bitterly cold and lots of snowbanks. So cold I doubt Ken will try to run the snowblower today, there's no one out so there's no need!

Snow on my deck--my deck is 4 foot off the ground!

You go right off the deck into the snow--Ruby BOUNDS thru the snow!

The snow has drifted in my ramp, and the snowbanks are higher than my car.

I need to sew but I've just been doing mindless sewing. But maybe today will be better. I hope the weather is better where you are!

Wednesday--More Snow

More snow here, winding up into a couple days of blizzard, but I think we are on the edge. Only 3-6" of snow forecast for here! I stepped outside earlier to take some pictures of the snow.

My deck is 4 foot off the ground, the snow is deep in places!!

Ken cleaned the ramp heading to the street, but it's becoming a tunnel. Yes, that is blowing snow and my finger on the lens!

View down the ramp to my little blue car. Ken blew the snow away around it, but I'm sure the snowplow has gone by and buried it again.

The steps leading off the deck into the back yard. Forget the steps, you just step out into a snowbank!

Ken says he is going to bring in a tractor that has a loader bucket on the back to push snow. But it will be a few days as it is supposed to be bitterly cold and the tractor needs to be worked on--the blinkers aren't working and only half the heater works. And it doesn't have all winter fuel in it yet, will wait a few days until it warms up a bit more and Ken can safely drive it without the diesel "gelling".

Tuesday Despair! HELP!

I joined Rosewillow in the "too good to cut challenge". I've picked my fabric. I have about 4.5 yards. BUT--I need to leave the fabric in pieces that would be 9.5" square (more or less) to preserve the picture they make. They are not floral or stripes or anything like that. They are PEOPLE!! Yes, my fabric has very brightly colored oriental people in it. I love it, I think they are so cheerful! So I am in need of an idea or a pattern. Can you help me? I want the people to shine, but need a pattern! Here is a scan of the fabric--


There are lots of colors I can pull from the focus fabric to coordinate. Oranges, browns, tans, blues, purples, yellows, greens. But I need an idea, a pattern. Do you have one??

Monday Goals

Time to set some goals.

1. Load, quilt, and bind a top

There, I think that's a big goal for the week. Truthfully, I'm under the gun. I saw that I'm #3 on Stashbuster's UFO list, and fear I may become "Queen"!

I also issued a challenge to "get out of the rut". Yes, I'm in a rut, I love to make quilts out of scraps. So my way to get out of the rut is I'm going to make a two color quilt from an antique pattern. And it's NOT my colors!! And it has to be done THIS YEAR! Anyone care to join me??

And I joined "Rosewillow's Unfinished Business" in the Too Good to Cut Challenge. I think I have my fabric picked. More on that later!

Update

Do you remember when I was working on my friend's quilt? I finished it before Christmas, and delivered it today.

In all the cold weather, snow, and carrying things I forgot my camera and had to use the one in my phone. I've known Betty a long time, and dearly love her. I hope she's all snuggly under her quilt!

Sunday Stash Report

The start of a New Year--will it be better than last year?? I think so!! I am starting out the year in the red, but that isn't going to last long! I bought 5.5 yards while I was in Minnesota. And I haven't finished anything--yet!! So right now I'm -5.5 yards.

We spent last week in Minnesota with our daughter and family. Ahh--yes, grandparent moments!! Grandpa did lots of babysitting, he's quite good at it!! Yes, Ken thinks he has read every book to Mason at least twice this week.

Since we've been home I've been catching up with laundry and putting things away. I think we caught a bit of a bug while we were gone, probably just from being tired. I spent most of today in bed. I found Ken asleep in the recliner. But I did some mindless sewing and sorting last night. I saw a new-to-me way to make flying geese at "Life's a Quilt" blog so I made 150 of them. Not sure what project they'll end up in, but I like the way "CrazyMomQuilts" used hers. I'm going to miss her blog! And I'm still whacking away at scraps. Henrietta has promised to help me use some of them, so I'm going to hold her to it. I think she better make plans for that noodle basket, it's full!

I know it looks fairly small in the picture, but that basket of noodles is HEAVY! And overflowing.

I'm sure most of you have read about the 1 million pillowcases project with All People Quilt--if not please read about it on the Heartstrings Quilt Project page. I plan to make a few before the month is out. Mary has a great tutorial. I wish you all a great week!

Smile Please!!

We were able to take pictures tonight without needing the extra set of clothes we took along! We strolled the mall and now we're home. Not exactly the life of the party!

Tuesday Family Pictures

Tonight we had family pictures scheduled. We were there on time, all cleaned up, ready to go. Sitting and waiting. Loud "rumbles" from Mason's diaper. Hmm. Better go check. Mom and Mason leave. Dad follows. Pretty soon Nick comes out and says "can you go help, I have to buy Mason some new pants". Oh oh! Yup, pictures were cancelled as Mom's shirt was hit also! So here we are back at home, baths over, clothes in the washer, the rest of us all dressed up with no where to go!!


ROFL Maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow!
