I'm Never Going To Be Martha Stewart

This is all my sister's fault!  In December we were baking cookies and she said "how can anyone who sews so much have such worn out potholders??!"  So I cut out some potholders.  Of course I never got them made before Christmas!   I pulled them out and thought it wouldn't take long to whip them together.  Wrong WRONG WRONG!!  BUY THEM!!  Here they are--crooked thumbs, lumpy top stitching, uneven ends.

Really cute but you are right, think I would buy them for the same reason I don't have quiltd placemats, takes to much time and I would rather be making quilts.

I'm with you on this one, BUY THEM! It is not worth the time and aggravation to make them.

Oh, that's funny! There are some things that aren't worth the effort, and potholders are two of them! They look great in the photo though.

LOL, just checked mine and they still look wonderful--because i don't use them! i use the square ones all the time, and of course, they're a mess!but yes, whether mits or square pot holders, i always buy them.

They look cute! I bet you made them match kitchen decor, too, right? Go look at the store ones, they aren't perfect either. BUT, for the price and trouble, I'd buy, too...!

Oh gosh - they're just fine and new and clean! No need for being fussy on them.

My potholders are all ratty looking too, but they do the job and that's the important thing. I have to second what Jay said as well. Why take time from quilting for something that's so easy to buy?

That's okay...the World already has a Martha Stewart. I'd rather just purchase things like that and spend my creative time making something more important.

my FIL used to say (so my hubby tells me) "Every man learns from experience, but only a foolish man learns soley from his own."

I shall learn from your experience and go buy me some potholders!!!

Oh picky picky but they are SO cute and not as bad as you describe them at all.

The best thing is you will never ever get burned through them because of the insulation. I hate to think how often I have been burned through the boughten ones, which BTW, if you look aren't ever a perfect match either.

But they work, right? Pragmatism is essential on these things.
