ARRRGGHHH!!

See that? Large wet snowflakes are drifting quietly down. See my climbing vines that are froze? Sniff! I do not LIKE snow!

Sunday Stash Report

Okay, let's get THAT out of the way. No change in the stash report. -10 yards.

But, I KNOW you think I've been slacking off. So I took pictures of a FEW things I did this week.

Yesterday I cooked and canned pumpkin, 17 jars. And made pumpkin pie bars and muffins--sent some of the baking home with my sister for her and my dad. See that big white bucket beside the jars--I noticed I was low on laundry soap, so I made a batch of homemade before I went to bed.

And after I made the soap I wasn't tired anymore, so decided to sew.

If you look carefully, left to right, there are 9 patches with tan sashings, the pink baby top, the navy blue/white stepping stones set into rows, underneath it is Alycia's #2 not so top secret quilt (needs some "unsewing") and the two boxes on the sewing cabinet arm--one holds bricks I cut (I HAD hoped to take some to Linda) and another set of 9 patches for MY quilt. And remember, I have another set of b/w bricks and stepping stones on ANOTHER wall sewn into rows. That is SIX quilts I can count in various stages of putting together. ROFL If I get them finished before the end of the year (and yes I plan to try to) then I think I might break 100 yards! All those quilts except the baby quilt are full size or bigger.

I filled an entire 40 gallon garbage can with batting bits and trimmings while cleaning my cutting room. I have a whole basket of noodles, and my bricks basket if at least half full AGAIN. The shelf cubes are looking much more empty.

Saturday Efforts

Not much quilty going on today. Last night it snowed a bit, but was melted and fairly nice this afternoon. Yesterday I picked the few pumpkins I had in my garden. Today, I cooked and canned most of them.

14 pints and 3 quarts, (some are still in the pressure cooker) that will probably be enough until next year. These are not Halloween type pumpkins, but "pie" pumpkins. My older sister came over and we made pumpkin pie bars and pumpkin muffins.

I've been on my feet most of the afternoon, I think it's time to take a bath and snuggle up in bed with a book.

Hated That First Picture

Okay, that first picture was so "bleah" I added the borders and took another. Still washed out in my light, but a LITTLE better.

Already I miss camping. During one of the last weekends I was volunteering, Ken and I went to Mulberry Bend

and Ponca State Park.

As many times as I have given directions to these places, I had never been to them. It was very windy that day (High Wind Advisory) and although I stood on some high open places, it was worth it. This section of the Missouri River is a National Park and has been left as natural as possible.

Motivation Friday

My butt is dragging. Lots of work to be done around here. And, it might even snow a little tonight. Depressing!! But I did find a little time to sew, in between loads of laundry!

I know, not a good picture. I tried to take one outside, but all you would have seen is a quilt top wildly flapping in the wind! It's from the book I bought earlier this week, it's called "Daisy Chain". I still need to add borders, and not really "my" colors (it's PINK mostly) but I know I will like it when its done.

Not ready for winter at all, today I took down some "lawn art" and if it freezes hard, I will be ready to clean my flower beds. I harvested the pumpkins from my garden, not very many but I will cook and can the ones I have.

Wednesday Wanderings

Yesterday my sister and I drove to Sioux Falls, she had a Dr. appt and I just went along. Of course, I had a coupon! LOL--do I buy ANYTHING without a coupon? But I was on a mission looking for a book. I found this----

I need to make a baby blanket for a friend in the next few months, and was looking for ideas on using my noodles. There is a pattern in there called "Daisy Chain" (somewhat like an Irish chain) and if I have enough pastels I can make it. There are directions in the index on how to re size the patterns to fit your individual needs. Henrietta is very good at seeing a quilt, figuring out what size to cut everything, about how much fabric it takes etc. Me, I'm pretty poor at math and prefer a book and a pattern!

Today I will divide my day between sorting and putting things away from the camper, laundry, dishes, and some SEWING! The weather looks bright and clear, but I hear the forecast is for a hard freeze this weekend. I'm not sure if I cover my flowers it would even help! Maybe it's time to let them go and start cleaning the flower beds and garden off and thinking about next year. How are you spending your day??

Monday Goals

No goals this week, I know I am going to be busy. Maybe not quilting busy, but busy! Whenever I have a chance I will slip in some more piecing, I have the navy blue/white bricks and stepping stones and Sonja's Windows to work on.

Sunday Stash Report

Nothing changed this week, I still have only used 10 yards more than I bought. But I seem to be doing lots of sewing??!! I'm confused!

Saturday Scrambling

Not enough days in the week right now. Seems like I need 36 hour days! But I did sew a little this week, I was behind on crazymomquilts 9 Patch Quilt a Long, so one night I made 21 more 9 patches. I am now up to 61, so I'm catching up. I think there are more lurking somewhere in my sewing room, but I just haven't found them! Do you do that, lose blocks and find them later? I hope I find them before I make too many more blocks!

I've really liked the finished pictures I saw of everyone's first quilt, and I am anxious to finish mine. Soon!

Motivation Friday

Not much motivation here. Just laundry, cooking, and picking up. Ken has been busy filling in for people at work, so he's pretty tired.

I haven't worked on my goals yet, but I may yet over the weekend. I forgot my camera at the camper, and so had to borrow my sister's, and you know what using a strange camera is like. I had received my Fall swap package from Melinda.

She sent me wonderful presents, she must know I LOVE green! There are some new fall kitchen towels (did she hear my sister wondering about mine yesterday?) a list (I love to have a lined list) and a new Fall wall hanging. I needed that, I only have a spring/summer and a winter one. Now I can hang a new one up by my door! And a package of Hershey's kisses/caramels. Mmmmm! Thank you so much!! I'm off to hang up the wall hanging!

Thursday Things To Do

Oh dear, there are lots of things on my Thursday list! First thing after lunch I will shower and do the errands. Post office, credit union, library. I want to try a new cake recipe. The laundry is YELLING at me. And I have received my swap partner's package, as soon as mine is mailed I will have no guilt about at least FEELING what she sent! (Okay, I did sneak a quick squeeze in!) And I want to sew! And a GOOD thing happened today. Remember this post?? Arrowhead Blocks Yes, I won them! As Brenda suggested, "invite them home with friends" that was exactly what I did and it worked! Yes, they are coming home and I'll have enough blocks to complete a good sized top! So I better get busy, I have lots to accomplish today! How is your day going??

Playing Catchup

Its been busy!  Thanksgiving has come and gone, soon it will be Christmas.  We got our vaccinations a couple weeks ago--Covid, RSV, Influena...
